Step 1: Preparing the Croissant Dough (Skip if using store-bought croissants)
In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
Cut cold butter into small cubes and mix it into the flour.
Add warm milk and egg, then mix until a dough forms.
Roll out the dough into a large rectangle, then fold it into thirds.
Chill the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Repeat this rolling and folding process three times.
Step 2: Shaping the Croissants
Roll out the dough into a thin rectangle (about ¼ inch thick).
Cut it into triangles with a 5-inch base.
Roll each triangle from the base to the tip to form a croissant shape.
Place on a baking sheet and let rise for 1 hour.
Step 3: Baking the Croissants
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Brush croissants with egg yolk for a golden crust.
Bake for 18–20 minutes until golden brown and flaky.
Let cool for 10 minutes before filling.
Step 4: Adding the Strawberry Filling
Slice croissants horizontally, but don’t cut all the way through.
Spread a thin layer of strawberry jam inside (optional).
Add fresh strawberry slices and a spoonful of whipped cream or pastry cream.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar for a bakery-style finish.
