- 2 cinnamon raisin bagels or plain bagels with a dash of cinnamon
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk or half-and-half for extra richness
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp maple syrup or honey
- Pinch of salt
- 1 tbsp butter for cooking
- Powdered sugar maple syrup, and fresh berries (for serving)
Slice the bagels in half horizontally.
In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, maple syrup, and a pinch of salt until well combined.
Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat and add the butter.
Dip each bagel half into the custard mixture, ensuring both sides are coated.
Place the soaked bagels on the hot skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and slightly crisp.
Remove from the pan and serve warm with powdered sugar, maple syrup, and fresh berries.
- Use day-old bagels for better absorption of the custard mixture.
- Let the bagels soak for a few extra seconds to ensure they absorb all the flavors.
- Cook on medium heat to avoid burning while achieving a crispy exterior.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheat in a toaster oven or skillet.
