Ingredients
Scale
- 4 hamburger buns or sandwich rolls
- 4 beef patties (or plant-based alternatives)
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms (button, cremini, or portobello)
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: caramelized onions, Dijon mustard, or mayo
Instructions
- Sauté the Mushrooms: Heat olive oil and 1 tbsp butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced mushrooms, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until mushrooms are golden brown, about 5 minutes. Set aside.
- Cook the Patties: Season beef patties with salt and pepper. In the same skillet, melt the remaining butter and cook patties over medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes per side, or until desired doneness.
- Melt the Cheese: Place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking. Cover the skillet to help the cheese melt.
- Assemble the Sandwich: Toast the buns lightly, if desired. Spread with mayo or Dijon mustard, then place the patties on the bottom buns. Top with sautéed mushrooms and caramelized onions (if using). Cover with the top bun.
- Serve and Enjoy! Pair with fries, a side salad, or a warm bowl of soup
Notes
- Use brioche buns for a richer, buttery taste.
- Let the patties rest for a minute before assembling to keep them juicy.
- Add crispy bacon for extra flavor.
