Main Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 (10 oz) bag of mini marshmallows (about 5 cups)
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal (or generic brand)
For the Chocolate Topping (Optional):
- 8 oz chocolate chips (about 1 1/3 cups) or chopped chocolate
- 2 teaspoons vegetable oil (optional, to help melt the chocolate smoothly)
Instructions
Stovetop Method:
- In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
- Add the mini marshmallows and peanut butter, stirring until fully combined and smooth.
- Remove from heat and stir in the Rice Krispies, mixing gently.
- Press the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch pan.
Microwave Method:
- In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine butter and marshmallows.
- Heat on medium power in 1-minute intervals, stirring between each, until melted.
- Stir in the peanut butter until smooth.
- Add the Rice Krispies and mix well.
- Press into a greased 9×13-inch pan.
Notes
- For softer peanut butter Rice Krispie treats, use 5 1/2 cups of Rice Krispies.
- Store at room temperature for up to 3 days.
