Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your pan(s). Line with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk. Stir in vanilla extract.
- Add food coloring if desired. Pour batter into heart-shaped or prepared pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes, then transfer to a rack.
- Frost and decorate as desired.
Notes
- Use a round and square pan if you don’t have a heart-shaped pan.
- Chill the cake before cutting or frosting for easier handling.
